About Saffron Kitchen
Saffron Kitchen, Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to building realistic pathways to entrepreneurship and upward mobility within the food industry in the Greater Salt Lake Area. Our tuition-free six-month program is designed to prepare refugees and youth to thrive in the culinary field with on-site classes lead by industry professionals, business workshops, paid internship experience, mentorship, and job placement with partner restaurants.
Whether participants dream of starting their hospitality career or becoming a top chef, the culinary training kitchen aims to support and empower refugees and at-risk youth as they work hard towards their aspirations. The training kitchen will, in turn, initiate integration between refugees and the mainstream community through community events and gatherings.
We strongly believe that integration plays a crucial role in refugee resettlement. The kitchen will allow for our collective communities to be brought together through a shared love for all things food. Please check out our calendar and join us for one of our upcoming events!
Who we serve
All culinary training program participants are refugees and youth from low-income families that demonstrate financial barriers to culinary training and lack the experience to start their own business. Each participant will be strategically matched with a seasoned chef or industry professional to coach them through career development. Our goal is to have trained 250 participants in five years of operation.
